Generation Patient peer groups are community-led spaces for young adults (ages 18-35) with chronic medical conditions to share their experiences and connect with others who deal with similar issues. See below for descriptions of our different groups! Before joining our peer-support meetings, please review our meeting guidelines to help us make this space as accessible as possible. If you have questions about our peer-support groups, or would like to discuss specific access needs, please reach out to rosa@generationpatient.org.

Please note: Our groups are facilitated by members of our community and are not medical support groups or group therapy. We cannot provide medical advice, crisis counseling, or mental health treatment. To respect the privacy of our group members, these meetings are only open to young adult patients — we do not allow researchers, providers, or caregivers to observe these groups.

General Peer-Support Group:

1st and 3rd Thursdays, 5pm PT/8pm ET

Our General groups are open to all young adult patients (anyone with a chronic medical condition, regardless of if you have an ‘official’ diagnosis!). We have discussions on a range of topics relevant to navigating life as a young adult with chronic illnesses (such as coping with unpredictability, dealing with stigma, talking about illness with friends, etc.). We also host activities like poetry workshops, casual chats, game nights, art activities, and more! To join our General group mailing list, click the button below.

Higher Education/Student Support Group:

Our Higher Education groups are open to all young adult patients who are current, prospective, or recent students in college or graduate school (including students on medical leave). These groups discuss topics about navigating life as a student with a chronic medical condition (such as self-advocacy in the classroom, navigating exam season, accommodations, etc.).
